1st Grade Agriculture Safety Day

Cow

.

Our Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety for 1st graders was a hit. We had great weather and a great program.

Adair County High School Ag. Facility hosted the program and events. The 1st graders had the chance to attend safety day demonstrations on Tractor, ATV, and Livestock safety. Each student and volunteer received a Farm Safety Day T-shirt and other materials related to the safety booths. Through hands-on activities, participants learned how to prevent farm and home accidents and how to reduce the extent of injuries if accidents do occur. Special speakers and interactive demonstrations reinforced children taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents safety rules, and sharing safety tips with their family and friends.

The Adair County 4-H Program received a grant from the Progressive Agriculture Foundation to sponsor the safety days. The national sponsors for the Progressive Agriculture Foundation are Bunge North America, Nutrien, TC Energy, CHS, Inc., John Deere, Farm Credit Council, Cargill, Corteva agriscience, Enbridge, Bayer, and CASA/ACSA. The local sponsors are Adair County 4-H, Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, Adair County Farm Bureau, Adair County FFA, Adair County Cattlemen's Association, Adair County Schools, Columbia/Adair County Fire Department, Adair County Ambulance Service, Green River Corp of Engineers, Adair County Elementary School Family Resource Center, Adair County Primary Center Family Resource Center, and Wright Implement of Campbellsville.

Without the support of these national and local sponsors the Progressive Ag. Farm Safety Day would not be possible. Many thanks to the Adair County FFA for hosting the Safety Day at their facility and for teaching several of the safety booths.
