1.2   Determine which algebraic property justifies and arithmetic statement.

1.3   Give examples of different algebraic properties and determine which sets of real numbers they apply to. (  3 days for 2&3): graphic organizer, Sell That Property performance task, Card Sort

1.4   Use the order of operations to simplify expressions. (2 days): guided notes, Spin to Win, Math Lib

1.5  . Evaluate a multi-variable expression for a specified value. ( 1 day):guided notes, Math Lib

1.6   Simplify an expression by combining like terms. (2 days): graphic organizer , Bingo, Math Lib

1.7   Write a given statement as an algebraic expression. ( 3 days): graphic organizer

1.8  Solve two step linear equations and inequalities. (4 days): guided notes, maze,  Math Lib, Fly Swatter Bingo,

1.9   Graph inequalities on a number line. ( 2 days): Guided notes, Find Someone Who...

Review and test over entire unit  ( 2 days)

Embedded within all modules from unit 1 are the following learning targets:

Recognize units given or needed to solve problem.

Determine if the solution to a multi-step problem is reasonable using given units

Choose appropriate units to represent a problem when using formulas or graphing.

Interpret units or scales used in formulas or represented in graphs.

Use units as a way to understand problems and to guide the solution of multi-step problems.
