Algebra I is a course designed for all students and is required by the state of Kentucky for high school graduation. The content of this class will be aligned with the Academic Standards of Mathematics adopted by the state of Kentucky. Students will be expected to be proficient at the following units of study by the end of this course: linear equations and inequalities in one variable, scatterplots, functions, arithmetic and geometric sequences, systems of equations, radical expressions, polynomials, factoring and quadratic functions.
Participate in class.
All work should be completed in a timely manner and at a level that demonstrates proficiency.
Always do your best.

Note: Graphing calculators are available for use during class. Each student will be assigned a calculator. If it is damaged, the student may be assessed the cost of repair or replacement. Students may opt to purchase their own graphing calculator. An inexpensive scientific calculator may also be useful for completing work outside of class.
Grades will reflect the level of understanding of the learning targets for this course. Learning targets can be found on my teacher web page at www.adair.kyschools.us . Students will also be given learning targets that each lesson addresses daily.
The 9-weeks grade will be based on the following.
The final course grade will be determined by counting each 9-weeks grade 20% and the End of Course Exam will count 20%. The End of Course Exam will cover the content from the entire year and all students are required to take the exam.
Good attendance is essential in this class. However, if you have an excused absence, you are responsible for getting the work you missed and it must be completed within two school days. Work missed due to an unexcused absence will result in a grade of zero for the assignment(s).
Students are expected to remain in class the entire class period. Restroom breaks and other business should be taken care of between classes.
